Minutes from July 19th meeting

Minutes of the June 21, 2009 meeting of the Hancock Area Photo Club

The group met at St. Thomas Episcopal Church at 5:00 p.m. In attendance were: Tracy Salvagno, Sam Judge, Tom & Jeri Rock, Marian Golden, Keith Kirk, and Mary and Gerald Chalupka.

Tom, Tracy & Sam brought pictures to share. Discussion about a possible Patriotic exhibit for the month of July at the conclusion of the current exhibit at the library.

Marian shared some historical photos she thought Sam might like to use for some of the store fronts on Main Streets. Tracy will take Tom’s matted photos and talk with Ted Weaver about using some of them in empty windows.

Phil Edwards told Sam he might be willing to consider letting the club use his empty storefront window on Main Street for a photo display. Ted Weavers told Tracy and Sam he could get enlargements/posters made.

Tracy brought information about HAPC participating in the Apple Canal Days September 19 & 20. Deadline to file application is August 1.

Tracy will find a place for the Patriotic exhibit, if not the library, then perhaps one of the storefronts on Main Street. She will talk with Marilyn at the library, and will let us know if she needs any help taking down current exhibit or putting up new one.

On the 4th of July, Dennis Hudson from the bike shop is planning to do a red, white and blue display in his store window, a parade of bikes decorated in red, white & blue. Perhaps he would be interested in some of our patriotic photos for that display.

Marian shared some historical photos of Hancock with the group and explained what the different buildings were.

Keith said he talked with Weaver about blowing up pictures to put in store windows

It was decided that folks would prepare appropriate photos for a patriotic exhibit and get them to Tracy by the first of July. Marian suggested we do an article in local papers for people to submit photos for the exhibit (unfortunately, there was not enough time to do that this year). Sam said it would be good for future exhibits. Tracy agreed that if we had started planning this earlier it would have been a good plan.

Jeri will do an email to all members asking them to get patriotic photos to Tracy for display.

A discussion pursued about the change in meeting time and everyone agreed that 5 p.m. works better for everyone, and hope it will bring in more participation.

Meeting adjourned around 6:19 p.m.
